I made this bag from a recycled fire fighter uniform. Surprisingly, my sewing machine didn't have too much trouble sewing it. I used a leather needle with jean thread. The material really dulls needles so I had to change it three times for this one bag. The biggest issue was cutting the material. After one cut my rotary cutter blade was dull. I then tried to cut it with my sewing scissors and they too became dull. I ended up asking my husband to bring several pairs of old scissors home from his work. The company he works for throws them away on a regular basis. At least I didn't feel bad when they went dull as they were destined for the garbage anyway.
